Your wedding day is one of the most magical and memorable times of your life. From walking down the aisle, gazing into your groom’s eyes, and watching all of your friends and family celebrate with you; this is a day to cherish for a lifetime. To capture all of these amazing moments, you will need an equally amazing photographer. That is why Bridal Spectacular has selected KMH Photography for our next vendor spotlight!
About KMH Photography
Kristen Hansen, owner and photographer opened KMH Photography in 2009. Kristen combines a high-quality technical approach and artistic, documentary style in her photography. From little snuggles, stolen glances, tears held back, and the kiss that changed your world… those are the real moments that your photographs will bring to life for years to come.
Kristen said one of the philosophies that guide her photography work is her love of capturing real emotions, candid moments and joyful memories. She said she absolutely adores capturing that look of anticipation on the bride’s face as she prepares for her big day, the groom’s amazement as he sees his bride walking down the aisle, and their overjoyed faces as they leave the ceremony for the first time as husband and wife. For Kristen, those are the moments that really make wedding photography so special. Her goal with KMH Photography has always been to give her clients real moments they can hold onto forever — and when she can make someone relive those emotions, she said it’s beyond fulfilling.
The KMH Photography Process
To begin, Kristen helps all of her couples determine how many hours of photography would work best with their specific wedding day plans, how to lay out their portrait schedule, when to tell family to arrive and when the best lighting is for the couple’s portraits. She said she loves to get to know her clients by finding out where they come from, what their first dance song is and what their wedding style is. Those details help her create images that are tailored a couple’s personality, whether it’s funny faces and playful poses, or more dramatic, romantic looks.
Kristen said one of the best things that a couple can do prior to their wedding is have engagement photos taken by their chosen wedding photographer. Everyone gets a little nervous in front of the camera. When you take engagement photos with your photographer before the wedding, it gives you a chance to get used to their style and lets you know what to expect on your wedding day — making your photography one less thing to feel nervous about on the big day!
Tips & Trends for the Couple-to-Be!
For wedding planning tips, Kristen always tell couples to make sure they genuinely like and get along with all of the vendors they are considering for their wedding. Vendors are a big part of your day, and making sure you have a great relationship with them makes all the difference. Of course, price, availability and quality are huge parts of choosing your vendors as well, but if it comes down to choosing between a few that are equal on those levels, let your instincts guide you.
And finally for the latest wedding photography trends, Kristen said she’s noticed a lot of retro, vintage editing themes in today’s wedding photos. However, she also added that it’s also important to not let your wedding photos be dictated by whatever is trendy at the moment. Kristen said she wants her clients to be able to view their images 20 years later and not feel like they are dated.
If you are still in search for your wedding photographer, you can meet Kristen in person at the Bridal Spectacular show on January 17 and 18 at Cashman Center. KMH Photography will be in booth 313 and will be giving away a complimentary engagement session to one lucky couple! Kristen will also be providing an exclusive show discount to every couple that stops by her booth.
