Owner of Jerry’s Tux Shop, Dorothy Walker said Jerry’s has a somewhat unique situation. She said the associates who work with the bride and groom are true professionals in the men’s formalwear industry. They are backed by a large inventory and the store also has staff in the back room who is available to do on-the-spot alterations. This means the bride can see her groom in what she wants him to wear and the groom can see how a tux or suit will actually fit him.
To help the groom select his perfect wedding look, Dorothy said they ask many questions to really get to know him. Then they take the groom’s measurements before he tries on the suits and tuxes he likes. After trying on the different options, Jerry’s associates will often have the couple take a picture to see how it looks on camera. If the bride is not available to be at the store, the groom can send her the photos before a final decision is made. Dorothy added that it’s extremely important that the bride knows what tux her groom has selected before the big day. Also, once the couple makes their selection for the wedding party, the party members will have the same advantage of trying on their tuxes and ensuring a good fit as well.

Dorothy’s biggest tip for brides and grooms when planning your wedding is to simply remember this is your wedding and no one else’s. Be sure to educate yourself, listen to the professionals in each area, as well as family and friends, but ultimately the wedding should be your own.
For wedding trends, Dorothy said current men’s formalwear always ranges from traditional to very trendy. On the traditional side, men are varying their look by selecting different shirt collars, coat collars and the number of buttons on a coat. For the trendier fashions, men are wearing a slim fit with a higher button stance and shorter coat and pant lengths for a more modern look.
