Advice on Making Wedding Music Selections That Fit Your Personality From A Real Life Las Vegas Bride

Bridal Spectacular features a Las Vegas wedding captured by M Place Productions.

What began as a cyber relationship, turned into true love when Barbie and Thomas met while playing World of Warcraft. From there, these two gamers got to say their “I Dos” with a beautiful self-proclaimed “nerdy wedding” at The Grove.

Thank you both, along with M Place Productions, for letting Bridal Spectacular share your lovely Las Vegas wedding with our readers.

A Glimpse at Barbie and Thomas’ Wedding

As featured in the fall edition of Spectacular Bride Magazine, Barbie and Thomas’ September wedding began with a gorgeous al fresco ceremony at The Grove. They chose gray for the guys since silver is Thomas’ favorite color and dusty rose for the girls since pink is one of Barbie’s favorite shades. As for the dress, Barbie wanted a 1950’s vibe, so she selected a Justin Alexander tea length dress and birdcage veil. The couple also had a great time incorporating wedding music that truly fit their personalities!

“The groom and I are total nerds,” Barbie shared. “As such, we wanted to get as many nerdy elements into the wedding as possible. One of the areas we added nerdy touches was through music. The music that played in the Almond Orchard prior to the wedding was orchestral and string quartet songs from our favorite movies and games, including music from Lord of the Rings, World of Warcraft, and game covers by Vitamin String Quartet. Before the processional began, the main title for World of Warcraft played. This is the song you hear when launching the game; the game that launched our relationship. 🙂 For the processional itself, the bridal party walked out to Concerning Hobbits from Lord of the Rings, and I walked out to the Vitamin String Quartet version of Storybook Love, the theme song from The Princess Bride.”

In addition to the ceremony music, the couple also featured video game soundtracks for the bridal party’s entrance and during cocktail hour. They also included lines from their favorite movies during their vows and throughout the wedding. They said that the entire day was full of nerdy Easter eggs that their guests had fun identifying knowing that they were game and movie enthusiasts.

As well as sharing their music-filled wedding story, Barbie also provided these great tips to future our brides and grooms!

“My advice would be to not be afraid to break traditions a little bit,” she said. “Change up the vows or sneak in an inside joke through your music selection. The few weeks before the wedding can be hectic, and you might not have time to go out on traditional dates. So, stay in and watch your old favorite movies again. It’ll fill you with nostalgia and possibly give you some fun ideas for incorporating one-liners or music into your day.”

We hope you enjoy this glimpse of Barbie and Thomas’ nerdy retro wedding as captured by M Place Productions!
