About Flora Couture

As a family owned and operated business, Flora Couture takes great pride in ensuring each arrangement is designed fresh and tailored to each customer’s individual desires. Owner of Flora Couture, Michelle Howard said their biggest asset is they work with each couple to create truly a unique experience that is based on their wants, desires and styles. She said they know that everyone, realistically, has a floral dream, so they try to work with each couple to find what’s best for them. A big part of discovering this is receiving the couple’s feedback, open communication, and developing a trust and friendship, which is the key to Flora Couture being able to make their customer’s dreams come to life.

Creating the Right Flowers for You

Michelle said they truly work to inspire their clients and enhance their entire experience by understanding their needs and styles. Many times couples come with the notion that they don’t know what they like, but through Flora Couture’s process they are able to help identify that by pin pointing the couple’s likes and dislikes. She said they work with their couples to determine the important elements, such as colors or even very meaningful flowers. They also work with any inspirational photos the couple may have and with the knowledge they provide. Michelle also added if the couple has a Pinterest account, they will use that as inspiration as well, as these are vital pieces of information that help Flora Couture ascertain all the details.

To help determine what flowers are best for your wedding, Michelle said couples should have an idea of what their budget is, decide which elements are really important (like the bridal bouquet) and don’t “skimp” on those things, but be very open and honest with your florist. As long as a couple is realistic and ready to receive suggestions, a good florist will still be able to create something amazing that follows their inspiration, just at a more cost sensitive price point.

Wedding Planning Tips for the Couple-to-Be

When planning your wedding, Michelle said one of the most important items is making sure you “click” with your vendors… and that they truly “get you” and understand your vision. She said for a florist, it’s all about the details so share all of your ideas.  A good vendor will make recommendations based on what is most important on your big day, see those important details in your actions, and will make the extra effort to bring those to fruition. Additionally, a good vendor will make suggestions on where you can save, but they may also make recommendations on where you should indulge.

Michelle added that a florist/décor company brings your event to life, a MC/DJ or band makes the night happen and keeps it going, and a great photographer catches the whole thing and preserves it for you to enjoy for years to come. Although all of your vendors are important, you should decide which elements are most important for you and make sure your vendors truly understand you, your wants and wishes.

Current Floral Wedding Trends

Finally for trends, Michelle said many things trending right now, including Shabby Chic, vintage and rustic styles. All three styles can be used individually or combined, but every couple is different and she encourages them to be individual! On the other end of the trend spectrum is the very clean, very dramatic contemporary style. This too can be mixed, but the clean classic look is just that, classic and timeless — which is Michelle’s favorite!

And what about colors? Michelle said popular colors really tie into the trends. With the Shabby Chic, vintage and rustic styles, you see a lot of whites, creams and light to blush pink hues with a bit of champagne thrown in. However, purple (both the orchid and the eggplant) are still very strong and have been for about a decade now. The unique combinations with the purple from pink and purple, purple and green, and even purple, orange and green have been very strong. The other trend that has been very prominent is the use of succulents in everything from the rustic and shabby chic styles all the way into the modern and contemporary looks.

However, regardless of what is trending, Michelle says she tries to remind couples that it doesn’t matter what everyone else is doing, it should be about them and what speaks to them. In summary, your wedding day should be all about you!
