Whoever created the idea of a rehearsal dinner had it right. After months of Las Vegas wedding planning, all brides, grooms, and everyone involved in the tight circle of planning needs a little break before the wedding day. As you gather together with your closest friends and family, enjoy the rehearsal dinner as an opportunity to eat, drink, and be merry. Sip one drink (yes, just one alcoholic beverage this time), chat up a storm, laugh loudly, and order a filling meal. You’ve worked hard. You deserve it.
But after the evening’s fanfare, it’s time to head home. While the boys might race out for one last night on the town (The Hangover, anyone? Look how well that one went.), as the bride consider settling down for the evening. Whether you go to your parents’ house or you stay at your own place with a couple close girl friends, find ways to relax yourself in body, mind, and spirit before the big day. Not sure where to start? Consider these relaxation tips for Las Vegas brides.
). Don’t Plan: Complete your wedding planning details before the rehearsal dinner because the time after this dinner is for you. Don’t try tying together loose ends, like writing reception place cards or packing for the honeymoon. Instead, finish all pertinent planning earlier in the day and save tomorrow’s worries for tomorrow.
). Exercise: This isn’t a last huzzah to bust your butt before your wedding day. Rather, engage in light exercise, like taking a long walk outside. This rejuvenating activity will stimulate endorphins, which will lift your mood, and decrease unwanted stress.
). Drink Herbal Tea: Raid the kitchen cabinets for a relaxing beverage. While you might consider grabbing a beer or a glass of wine, we recommend saving that for tomorrow’s celebration when the stress is gone and you won’t be tempted to indulge in too much for the wrong reasons. Instead, relax with an herbal tea (such as a Chamomile blend or a non-caffeinated Passion Flower flavor) to promote sleep and calm any anxiety.
). Talk It Out: Spend time at home with your family or your close girl friends. When you surround yourself with people who care about you, you’ll be supported every step of the way. Discuss how you feel, how life may change after marriage, and how you’ll deal with these transitions. Feel free to also lighten the mood by recalling his proposal and what you all thought. Tell jokes, sing songs, and remember good times you’ve all spent together.
). Smile a lot: Get your grin on! No matter how you feel, the act of smiling can actually alleviate tension and lighten your mood. So think of how happy you’ll be tomorrow as you walk down the aisle. Listen to a comedy routine online, or watch your favorite rom-com. Look at photos that make you happy. Simply lift the corners of your mouth, make those dimples your groom loves so much, and let that smile lift your spirits.
). Watch Your Favorite Film or Read a Book: Enjoy your evening! Pop in your favorite film that’s guaranteed to put you in a good mood. Or snuggle into the couch with good book. You’ll pass the time quickly, and let tension slip away.
). Play with Your Pet: If you have a furry friend, spend some time with your pet. With all the recent planning, your pet may have noticed the lack of playtime lately. Show Fluffy some attention, perhaps by playing a favorite game or inviting her to snuggle beside you. Your pet will appreciate the love, and its presence will help set you at ease.
). Listen to Your Favorite Tunes: Plug in your iPod earbuds or crank up the stereo. Depending on your mood, you can relax either by laying down to soak in serene sound through your headphones or by turning up the stereo to blast the beats and let loose for personal dance party. Whether you want to be still and calm or you need to expend some energy, music can help brighten your night.
). Relax with a Warm Bubble Bath: Create your own personal spa at home. Soak in a steamy bath, and sip a glass of chilled water to stay hydrated. As you settle into this relaxing atmosphere, you’ll find the best peace of mind.
). Get a Good Night’s Sleep: Once you’ve relaxed your mind and your muscles, you’re ready for bed. If possible, try to achieve eight hours of sleep to ensure a fresh face and bright eyes for your special day. Try your best to not worry about last planning details for tomorrow. The most important part isn’t getting to the salon on time; it’s marrying the man of your dreams. Everything else is just details. So, tonight, be comfy, turn out the lights, and let your mind drift to sleep. Sweet dreams, Las Vegas brides!
