These passionate and highly educated artists and stylists continue to pave the laws of beauty and create timeless and classic looks that are sought after by both brides and industry professionals.
The Makeup in the 702 Experience
Founder of Makeup in the 702, Megan Payne said they help create a bride’s perfect look by keeping these two terms in mind: timeless and classic. She said think about your grandmothers wedding photo hanging on the wall. If it were not for the actual photograph itself, would you be able to pin an era on that photo? That is one of the first things they think of and share with their clients. She said be yourself on your wedding day. It’s easy to get caught up in the latest runway trend or Hollywood wedding, but you’ll enjoy your day much more if you embrace who you are everyday.
Megan said she’s often asked if clients should have pictures for them, and the answer is yes. Anything that a bride can do to help convey what they want or more importantly what they don’t want is brilliant. She said they’d still ask several questions before they touch your face or hair, but if you have trouble putting into words the look you like, then showing them is a great alternative. Their only goal is to ensure that you look like you, only on your most beautiful day!
What to Consider When Choosing Your Hair & Makeup Stylists
Megan said a bride should start thinking about her hair and makeup when she’s in the process of selecting her dress. The two go hand-in-hand in the overall result of the wedding day look. You’ll also need to have a clear understanding of what time you need to be ready by, so that your hair and makeup can be timed perfectly with your photos.
Another thing to consider is budget. Hair and makeup prices are based upon these factors: education and experience, as well as the products and tools used. In Las Vegas, you’ll find everything from unlicensed and uninsured companies charging $50 to highly skilled companies that are $150 per service. Megan said her best advice is to look at reviews, the company’s history in town and scrutinize their website. Then she said to go back to your budget and ensure that you’ve allocated the appropriate amount for hair and makeup. After the food has been eaten, your guests have left and the flowers have wilted, what do you have left . . . your wedding day photos. Remember that your hair and makeup can make or break the history of these photos.
Tips & Trends for the Bride-to-Be
Megan’s first tip to brides is good skin care. Good skin and good color go hand-in-hand — and you will not achieve good skin one week before the wedding. She said start now and invest in your face (not just for the wedding, but for a lifetime). Her second tip is brow grooming. She said think of your eyebrows as the gorgeous frame that holds the picture. Again, start now, not the week before the wedding!
And finally for trends, Megan said lipstick is back and in full force! From a nude pink to rockabilly red, lipstick is no longer overlooked. And, your hubby with thank you during the first kiss too!
