What to Consider When Planning Your Outdoor Reception
Keri Macanas, the Sales & Catering Manager At TPC, said if you are looking for an alternative location to the traditional ballroom for your wedding, finding an outdoor location can be breathtaking. She said when choosing the right location for an outdoor theme, there are many factors you need to consider. One of the most important factors is having a backup plan for inclement weather, as even simple things like the wind can pose issues with keeping food warm and of course the comfort of your guests. To help prevent these kinds issues, there are many rental companies that can create beautiful tented structures that protect you from the elements, yet still allow you to take advantage of the beautiful outdoor views.
Keri added that a few other key factors you should ask an outdoor wedding venue is will there be lighting, power, restroom facilities, additional fees for catering outdoors, and additional staffing fees for outdoor setup. In addition, be sure to consider other important aspects, such as the time of year (a mid-July wedding in Las Vegas may be pretty uncomfortable for an outdoor reception), your wedding menu (choose dishes that will keep well outside, in the sun and the heat), having the proper sound equipment for music and speeches, and make sure to have an overall venue back-up plan in case the weather goes completely awry!
Wedding Trends for 2015
Now that you know what to consider when planning your outdoor wedding, let’s make sure you are up-to-date on the latest wedding trends!
For themes, Keri shared with us that the natural, rustic theme from 2014 with blush, lace and mason jars will continue into 2015. For color combinations, she said teal and pink is a popular combination, as well as royal, navy blue and green.
For dress styles in 2015, she said you can’t go wrong with simple, clean lines, silhouettes with sheers and free flowing bottom layers, as well as decorative necklines and off the shoulder dresses.
For décor, Keri added with Pinterest and Etsy, cute signs are making waves in the wedding scene, including table numbers, chalk board signs, Instagram signs, bride/groom signs, directional signs, bar signs, and much more!
And, don’t forget the desserts! She added that mini desserts are very popular, including macaroons, small desserts, ice cream bars, candy bars, and things that are interactive for your guests.
