Generally, there are an abundance of tips and articles available to brides to help her and her bridesmaids choose their dream wedding look. However oftentimes, information for the groom and his groomsmen can be overlooked, even though the guys’ wedding attire is just as important as the bride. So, to help ensure all Las Vegas grooms are informed and prepared with everything they need to know when it comes to wedding attire, we at Bridal Spectacular teamed up with some of Las Vegas’ top men’s formalwear professionals, Men’s Wearhouse and Tuxedo Junction, to provide the guys with tips to help create their perfect wedding look.
First up, a Q&A with the Formalwear Event Coordinator for Men’s Wearhouse, Vicki Keith!
Bridal Spectacular: What is the first step the groom-to-be should take when he’s looking for his perfect suit or tux?
Vicki: Shop online at menswearhouse.com and find several styles of suits and/or tuxedos you like. Then, head into a store and try a few things on to see if you like the way you look in the styles you picked out.
Also, plan ahead. It takes time to find the perfect suit or tuxedo. Also allow time for any alterations that are needed. The selection for the men in your wedding party should start 4 to 6 months before your big day.
Bridal Spectacular: Once the Groom has an idea of what he’s looking for, how to you help him coordinate his look with the bride’s style?
Vicki: Pictures and fabric swatches help us understand if the bride’s dress style is very formal, casual or a theme. We can suggest suits, tuxedos and accessory colors and styles to enhance and coordinate her style. All stores are stocked with samples so we can show how the groom’s selections will complement the bride.
Bridal Spectacular: One of the top questions we often hear is should the guys wear a bowtie or a necktie, how do you help him decide?
Vicki: We suggest you try on a bowtie and necktie with different shirt styles to see how you like each look. Neckwear is truly a personal choice and the chance to have some fun.
Bridal Spectacular: Once the groom has determined his wedding attire, how do you help select the groomsmen look?
Vicki: The groomsmen clothing styles should complement the groom’s style. We suggest similar styles in coats and pants and then add in different colored accessories. This allows the groom to stand out from his groomsmen.
Bridal Spectacular: What are the current trends you’ve been seeing with men’s wedding attire?
Vicki: Vests that are the same color and fabric as the coat similar to a three-piece suit look. The wedding colors are added with neckwear, pocket silks and cufflinks. Also, colorful patterned socks for all the guys in the wedding party. Silk boutonnieres to match the wedding colors are also a trend, plus they cost less than the traditional boutonniere.
Bridal Spectacular: Is there anything else you would like to add or share?
Vicki: We offer a “Build a Tux” feature on our website, which allows customers to pair up different coat styles, shirt styles, vest and ties and then print a picture. Also, the fit of your clothing is truly important on your big day. All of our stores have professional tailors on staff to ensure your suit or tuxedo looks perfect.
