Bridal Spectacular Q&A with Emerald at Queensridge

Bridal Spectacular: What are your top tips for couples when they are unsure of what type of wedding theme/colors they want and don’t know where to begin?

Cicely: Try finding inspiration in your common interests. Whether it’s a sports team, your favorite action hero, or a love of travel. You’d be surprised how one simple idea can create the entire theme of your wedding. A shared love of wine could help with colors (burgundy, purple, champagne, ivory), décor (wine bottles, corks), and even menu (wine infused meats, specialty cocktails).

Bridal Spectacular: How do you help a couple determine their theme if the bride and groom want something completely different?

Cicely: It’s all about compromise! Sometimes that means divide and conquer (“I pick the centerpieces, you design the cake”). Or, you could take aspects from both of your visions and create a blended idea like taking variations of each of your favorite colors to create a beautiful wedding palette. It can also be a great opportunity to come up with something new and creative together!

Bridal Spectacular: Do you have any suggestions to help a couple cut costs if they need to adhere to a certain budget?

Cicely: Keeping a manageable guest count can really help with savings. Finding cost effective alternatives, like silks or floral-alternative décor, such as Manzanita Trees or lanterns instead of expensive arrangements can help cut costs. Or, find out what is in-season around your wedding and take advantage of more readily available items.

Bridal Spectacular: On the contrary, is there anything you recommend a couple splurges on to really bring their theme to life?

Cicely: There’s always that one item that really ties it all together. The theme doesn’t have to be in your face to make an impact. Using subtle details to enhance the theme really goes a long way. You don’t necessarily have to splurge, either. Something as simple as guest tables named after countries for a travel theme or a Mickey & Minnie cake topper for a Disney theme can really shine!

Bridal Spectacular: What are the current trends you’ve been seeing with wedding themes?

Cicely: Couples have gotten so creative! With so many ideas floating around on social media and Pinterest, it’s easier than ever to take a small idea and make it spectacular.

We recently hosted a wedding that beautifully executed a Batman theme — the groom’s favorite superhero. They started with an elegant black and gold palette with gorgeous floral centerpieces and playfully added their personal touches. Each table was named a different Batman villain using vintage comic book photos as reference. Custom props were added to the photo booth and a GOBO to look like the Bat Symbol was displayed on the wall with their initials. It was such an elegant affair, but still stayed true to the couple’s youthful personality.
